EXCLUSIVE: Interview with ‘Bizarre Foods America’s’ Andrew Zimmern
Andrew joins SL to discuss his new book, new food truck, and as always- Bizarre Foods.
Most television audiences know Andrew Zimmern as “that guy on the Travel Channel that eats weird things”, but in reality Zimmern is “that chef with 2 James Beard awards who shares his wonderful and unique cultural experiences with Americans.”
Zimmern is the creator, executive producer and host of Travel Channel’s ‘Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern’, ‘Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre World’, and the latest installment ‘Bizarre Foods America’. His mission is to explore the world’s cultures through their cuisine and share his experiences.
On October 30th, Zimmern is releasing ‘Andrew Zimmern’s Field Guide to Exceptionally Weird, Wild, Wonderful Foods: An Intrepid Eater’s Digest’, a pop-culture-influenced look at “bizarre” ingredients (such as maggot cheese, cow's blood, and dung beetles), written for young adults. In the style of traditional field guides, Zimmern’s book is visually beautiful, informative, and oft times amusing.
Shalom Life spoke to Andrew Zimmern about his newest book, his interest in bizarre foods, and ‘AZ Canteen’, an Andrew Zimmern food truck inspired by the street stalls and food trucks he’s enjoyed around the world.
