If you've been following Montreal Alouettes defensive lineman Khalif Mitchell's twitter recently, then you may have noticed he's been on a bit of a conspiracy binge as of late.

There's been one in particular that's been circulating which has landed him in quite a heap of controversy, including a hefty fine from both the Canadian Football League, and his team: Holocaust Denial.

On Friday, Mitchell, tweeted a link to a YouTube video called "The Greatest Lie Ever Told - The Holocaust" which, as you can tell by its title, denies the fact that some 6 million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust.

According to TSN, B'nai Brith Canada contacted Mitchell about his offensive tweet (and several others, his Twitter page is just loaded with this stuff), to which he replied that he was merely "looking at all the facts."

Today, CFL Commissioner Jeffrey Orridge issued a statement claiming that, “There is absolutely no place in our league for commentary used to divide or disparage others along the lines of sex, race, religion or sexual orientation.”

“While we acknowledge that players have a right to hold and express their own opinions, in no circumstance do we condone activity or comments that are derogatory or inappropriate, putting the league’s reputation in question — and we feel Mr. Mitchell’s recent posts on social media have violated these principles,” he continued.

Mitchell's team, the Alouetttes also denounced his "regrettable postings," which remain live at this moment. And also things he's reposted, like this one:

And this one:

Seems like Mitchell is pretty set in his beliefs here, and not just "looking at the facts."

Alouettes president and CEO Mark Weightman weighed in on the controversy as well, saying “His postings are disappointing and in no way reflect the opinions and values of the Montreal Alouettes."

“His postings were completely unacceptable and the Alouettes apologize to anyone who was offended by them,” he added.

This isn't the first time Mitchell has displayed his allegedly racist views via social media. In 2012, he was fined by the CFL for using derogatory terms about people of Chinese descent.
