Danny Green Apologizes for "LOL Holocaust" Selfie

The San Antonio Spurs star blames "poor judgement" on his Instagram post

Apparently, nobody warned Danny Green about the delicate nature of posting pictures at Holocaust Memorials.

But then again, would that really be necessary?

The San Antonio Spurs were in Berlin recently for a pre-season match against a local German basketball squad, Alba Berlin. The reigning NBA champions were actually defeated 94-93.

While in the country, Green visited the city's Holocaust Memorial, where he posted a selfie at the memorial accompanied by the caption, "You know I had to do it one time lol #Holocaust."

Wow. So rarely do you read the acronym 'lol' followed by the hashtag, #Holocaust.

The 27-year-old shooting guard, naturally, received a lot of criticism as a result of his poor choice of words, with many branding him as "scum" on Twitter.

Green quickly apologized for his "insensitivity," blaming it on "poor judgement."

Green then changed the caption to read, "A lot of history here, more than you could imagine… very sad/tragic things happened #holocaust #berlin."

The moral of the story is: don't post Holocaust selfies. Particularly those where you 'laugh out loud.'
