The results from the monthly Peace Poll, released by the Israel Democracy Institute and Tel Aviv University, came in on Wednesday to reveal that 80% of Jewish Israelis think the state is in danger.

The Jerusalem Post reported the stats, saying that 26.5% of Israelis define the security-military danger to Israel as very high and 54.1% said it’s moderately high. The lower numbers were found among those who think the danger was moderately low (11.5%) or low (5.4%). A little over 2% declined to answer or didn’t know how to answer. The poll also mentions that there is an increase in danger felt from last year’s May poll. 68% of citizens see the danger threat as high or moderately high as opposed to this year when the numbers jumped to 80.5%.

When it comes to Israeli Arabs, 28.1% believe that the danger is very high with 14.2% saying it was moderately high. However, 38.4% is the percentage of those who didn’t have an answer or didn’t want to answer.

The poll went on to question people about the national budget, revealing the numbers to be 41% of the Jewish public thinking the state budget gives too much to the defense budget. Others either see it as a proper amount (26%) or that the defense budget isn’t getting enough (20%). The Arab interviewees’ count differed with 53% thinking the defense budget’s portion is too much.

The poll then questioned people about Palestinian casualties. The question, according to the posted poll, was this: “Recently there have been reports on a considerable number of cases of Palestinians who were shot by IDF soldiers in the territories/Judea and Samaria. Which of the following two explanations for the uptick in incidents is more accurate, in your opinion: that Palestinian anti‐IDF activity has recently increased, or that recently there has been a stronger tendency of soldiers and officers to open fire with the aim of hitting the target?” 75% of Jews did not blame the IDF for any killings and agreed with the first statement.
