In the wake of numerous anti-Semitic attacks in France and a record-high number of French Jews attending the Birthright Israel Trip, a new report claims Israel is expecting expecting thousands of French Jews to make aliyah this summer.

A dramatic increase in Jews making aliyah has been tracked in recent years, with French Jews now topping the list of Jews leaving their homes in pursuit of a better life in the Holy Land.

3,000 French Jews alone are expected to make aliyah this summer, joining the 3,124 French Jews who have already immigrated since the beginning of 2015. To add some perspective, consider the following: in 2014, around 7,000 French immigrants arrived in Israel. Compare this to the lowly 1,964 Jews who immigrated from France in 2013, and a new trend is clearly visible.

This new influx of French Jews making Aliyah comes after a joint effort by the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption and the Jewish Agency for Israel to encourage immigration from France, and to increase international immigration as well.

French Jews make up the 3rd largest Jewish community in the world, only falling behind Israel and the USA.
