The famous travel magazine, Travel and Leisure, released a new list in their most recent issue that showcases the top-10 cities in the entire world.

As a unique and diverse city that possesses a variety of social and cultural features, Jerusalem has ranked as number 10 on the list. Out of 100, Jerusalem received a score from the travel publication of 88.18.

The holy city was placed on the list predominantly because of its vivid attraction to multiple faiths.

“Christians, Jews, and Muslims converge to worship in this 4,000-year-old holy city, and their respective churches, synagogues and mosques surround the historic Old City,” noted the magazine.

Tourists are also drawn to Jerusalem for its variety of activities, including, praying at the Western wall and leaving little notes in its cracks – a must-do tradition when visiting the Old City. Travellers also can spend a day at the Holocaust memorial, Yad Vashem, view the Temple Mount or Dome of the Rock mosque, and can even go shopping on the iconic Ben-Yehuda Street.

The magazine also discusses Jerusalem’s wide array of cuisine choices that attract many tourists, in addition to the city’s luxury apartment buildings.

Travellers can visit Mahane Yehuda market for fresh-pressed juice from Uzi Eli. According to Travel and Leisure, this vendor is known locally as the Citron Man on HaEgoz Street, providing his customers with the tastiest of juices. Tourists can also indulge at high-end restaurants that serve Middle Eastern cuisine.

While Jerusalem place 10th on the list, a diverse group of cities were listed preceding the ancient holy city.

Ranking first on the list was Kyoto, Japan, followed by Charleston, South Carolina. After, Siem Reap, Cambodia and Florence, Italy were listed.

Rome, Italy ranked fifth place, which was followed by Krakow, Poland; Barcelona, Spain and Cape Town, South Africa.
