To celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations with the State of Israel, Germany's Bild newspaper published a bold headline in Hebrew on the cover of its front page this week, reading "Good Day, Israel!"

The headline coincided with the visit of Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, and is part of a special Bild issue that highlights Israel and Germany's relationship in light of this historic achievement.

Underneath the Hebrew writing reads Shalom Deutschland! accompanied by a photo of Reuven Rivlin and German president Joachim Gauck.

At a Tuesday night gala at the Berlin Philharmonic, Gauck openly told Reuvlin that he "brought with you your heart, and that is a wonderful gift," before adding "Toda raba."

“It was from my heart to your heart,” Rivlin replied.

Bild is known for its pro-Israel stance, and has often promoted a strong Germany-Israel relationship.

Last year, shortly following the end of the IDF-Hamas war, Held showed the faces of the 64 Israeli soldiers who were slain during the war, paying tribute to them and their families.
