The rabbi of the Jewish community of Gothenburg, Sweden's second-largest city, has received a series of emails/letters in the wake of the terrorist attack on a Jerusalem synagogue Tuesday that left four Jewish worshipers dead, and one Druze police officer, that have contained horrific death threats.

Canadian-born Rabbi Hillel Ḥayyim Lavery-Yisraëli, who made aliyah when he was 19, has served as the rabbi of the Great Synagogue in Gothenburg for the past two years.

The synagogue was built in 1865 and is the oldest in the country.

On Wednesday, a day after the attack in Jerusalem, the rabbi, a father of four, received an email from an anonymous source to his email address at work. The email praised the two terrorists who conducted the attack, and claimed that soon, the Great Synagogue would also be targeted, and burned to the ground, with him - referred to as "the pig" - in it:

"What a wonderful day! Four of your satanic murderers were taken from the world, how wonderful! But what a pity that you weren't among them, you lowly pedophile! But soon will come the time when the Gothenburg synagogue will be destroyed to the ground with you inside, and then you too, you pig, will be killed in the eternal fire," it read, reports Arutz Sheva.

According to Lavery-Yisraëli, the email was riddled with smelling and grammar mistakes, indicating that the culprit was most likely not Swedish.

He added, though, that he's received several letters from the same writer before, some of which criticizing ritual circumcision, which leads him to believe that the culprit is a neo-Nazi or white supremacist, and not a radical Muslim.

The rabbi claims that this was the sixth letter he's received from the anonymous anti-Semite since February. Following the attack of a Jewish museum in Belgium in May, the email also began with the phrase, "what a wonderful day."
