American born, IDF lone soldier David Menahem Gordon, who has been missing since Sunday, was declared dead today after his body was found in central Israel, with his rifle by his side, the IDF released in a statement.

He was 21 years old.

Gordon was a Jerusalem resident, and part of the Givati Brigade.

A lone soldier in Israel, Gordon was last seen Sunday afternoon in the Medical Corps facility outside Rishon Lezion, at the Tzrifin army base. Israeli police had issued a request on Tuesday for assistance in finding him.

“As far as we know from investigations so far he arrived at Tzrifin two days ago for dental treatment, received the treatment, then left the medical corps, and since then his trail has vanished,” police said.

Gordon's body was found near the base, in a drainage pipe. His family has since been notified, and Israeli military police are currently looking into the circumstances surrounding his death.

As Israel and Hamas have been engaged in a shaky ceasefire for the past few days (that doesn't seem will last for much longer) it is unclear how exactly Gordon died. He is the latest American-born soldier to die while supporting the people of Israel since fighting intensified between Hamas terrorists and IDF soldiers last July, after Max Steinberg and Nissim Sean Carmeli.

We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
