Ice Bucket Challenge Spawns New Trend: Spreading Hummus On Your Face

It was bound to happen.

Over the last week alone, we've seen dozens of celebrities, musicians, actors, and even politicians take part in the Ice Bucket Challenge, which sees you pouring a bucket of ice water on your head in a bid to promote awareness of the ALS Foundation, which fights against Lou Gehrig's disease.

While some have mocked the usefulness of the challenge, as Forbes reports, ALS has reported raising $15.6 million as a result of the challenge, nine times what it usually raises in that time frame.

But, as we all know, all trends lead to new trends.

Thanks to three Israeli soldiers, we now have the first known spin on the Ice Bucket Challenge: the Hummus Tub Challenge.

Created by 26-year-old Corey Feldman, who came up with the idea, his version of the challenge is called Hamas vs. Hummus, and, instead of pouring ice water, sees you spreading hummus onto your face.

In the video (see below) the soldiers say the campaign is meant to show how wonderful the popular Middle Eastern dip is, whereas Hamas, not so much, and also, to provide funds to the FIDF (Friends of the IDF).

“Hamas is a terrorist organization that threatens the lives of both Palestinians and Israelis,” said Feldman.

“Hummus, on the other hand, is delicious.”

The three also challenged a few others to take part in the Hummus challenge, which you can view at Feldman's Facebook page. If those challenged were to decline, Feldman says they have to donate $100 to Friends of the IDF.
