The Middle East Broadcasting Center (MBC), a television network based out of Dubai and owned by Saudi Arabia, has embarked on a new campaign to promote its 'September to Remember' lineup with advertisements that feature Adolf Hitler.

The ads are promoting MBC's Action movie channel.

Times of Israel reports that MBC has been showing clips from Quentin Tarantino's renowned film, Inglorious Basterds, to push its Action Movie Channel, and features Arabic subtitles accompanying Hitler's character that reads "they will control the entire region".

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has since responded to the ad, calling it 'offensive and outrageous' and has called for it to be removed from the airwaves immediately.

"Perhaps someone thought all of this was funny, but one wonders how it will play across the Arab World, where there is scant education about the murder of six million Jews and millions of others by Hitler and the Nazis and where Holocaust denial and anti-Semitism are rampant," says Abraham H. Foxman, National Director at the ADL.

This isn't the first time marketers have used the image of Hitler to boast ratings, or as self-promotion; in India, a storeowner named his store 'Hitler', in Dubai, an advertisement for a gym, the Circuit Factory, displayed the Nazi death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau accompaniedwith the slogan "Kiss your calories goodbye."
