'The Annunciation of San Martino alla Scala'

First Iran calls off newly elected President Hassan Rouhani's 'Shana Tova to all Jews' tweet and now this.

Italy has announced that the Sandro Botticelli masterpiece, 'The Annunciation of San Martino alla Scala' will no longer be making aliyah to Israel as scheduled, due to escalated tensions in the Middle East and Syria.

The painting was scheduled to leave from Florcen's Uffizi Gallery, arrive at Jerusalem's Israel Museum on September 17th, and would have stayed on display for several months, as a 'Rosh Hashanah' gift from Italy to Israel.

The loan was arranged between the Israel Museum and the Italy-Israel Foundation for Culture and the Arts.

The Associated Press reports that Italy's culture minister announced the decision Thursday, citing 'geopolitical and logistical considerations'.

They also mentioned that maintaining strong Israel-Italy relations is important, and that they hope for a Renaissance piece of art in Jerusalem soon.

'The Annunciation of San Martino alla Scala' arrived at the Uffizi Gallery in 1920, and was initially restored there.
