But, once again proving that truth is far stranger than fiction, that’s the case for Kohfeldt, who placed the Fuher’s porcelain throne in his garage’s workshop.
The toilet is said to be from Hitler’s private yacht, the Aviso Grille, one of the largest private boats around back then.
Experts say that the Aviso Grille was fully armed, boasted a crew of more than 200 men, and included a private room for Hitler’s gal pal, Eva Braun.
At the end of the war, when American servicemen took whatever Nazi souvenirs they could get their hands on, the Aviso Grille was claimed by New Jersey shipyard owner Harry Doan, who charged visitors 25 cents to board and tour the yacht.
Ultimately, with the US government wanting to ensure that the ship would not become a Hitler Memorial, it was left for scrap in Doan’s shipyard during the 1950s before finding its final resting place in a New Jersey auto shop.
