Hakav HaMeached recently took 12 young Israeli cancer patients on a trip to Washington

A group of 12 young Israelis recently had the times of their lives thanks to special trip organized by Hakav HaMeached (For the Sake of the Children).

The children, all of whom have cancer, enjoyed a special evening at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C., that included dinner. The youngsters, and some mothers, also took in a number of Washington’s plentiful tourist attractions.

The group also toured New York City and Niagara Falls.

During a trip to the headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the children took advantage of the opportunity to ride in four-wheel drive vehicles, according to Lindsey Singer, director of U.S. media and strategic outreach at the embassy.

“They need to build up their strength to return to the struggle against their disease with renewed spirit,” said Benny Cohen and Yisrael Sheinfeld, organizers of the trip. “It is our hope that the trip will instill in them new strength to wrestle with and defeat the horrors of cancer. It’s also a way to let them live and enjoy life like any other normal child."

HaKav HaMeached was founded over ten years ago, by Israel Shai who had witnessed, firsthand, the stress endured by the families of the sick and of terror victims. Today, the organization works across the country, specializing mainly in helping the sick and addressing their personal needs, giving personal attention to the special needs of each sick individual.
