Billboards in South Africa
BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanction) South Africa and the South African Palestinian Alliance have launched a billboard campaign in Pretoria and Johannesburg maligning Israel while highlighting the plight of Palestinian refugees.

In a strategic move, the South African organizations timed the deployment of their ads to coincide with recent events in South African-Israeli relations. These include the ruling African National Congress’ articulating pro-Palestinian stances at the party’s policy conference and a notice created by the Trade Ministry which states that goods from the West bank be labeled "produced in Palestinian Occupied Territories" Instead of that they were manufactured in Israel.

Titled “Palestine loss of land 1946-2012”, the 12 billboards have been installed in the Central Gauteng Province of South Africa. The signs show the progression of the so-called Israeli procurement of Palestinian land from 1946 until today. The Billboards also assert that "4.7 million Palestinians are classified by the UN as refugees."

This campaign follows on the heels of a similar one in New York, where a pro-Palestinian organization installed comparable ads in the Chappaqua train station in Westchester County.
