Saif al-islam, the son of former Libya leader Muammar Gaddafi who is currently facing the death penalty for killing protestors last year, has been the recipient of support from an unlikely source.

That support is coming from none other than Israeli model and actress Orly Weinerman who continues to ask former British Premier Tony Blair to save the life of al-islam, a man Weinerman describes as her “discreet lover”.

Weinerman was a member of the cast of "Shemesh", an Israeli situation comedy. After Shemesh, Weinerman moved to London where she attempted to make a career in modeling and advance her acting career. Returning to Israel, Weinerman appeared at the Beauty City beauty fair.

According to Britain’s The Daily Mail, Weinerman is appealing to Blair who she calls an "old friend" of al-Islam, and a man who worked with the Libyan prior to his capture.

Weinerman, who started dating al-Islam in 2006 and dated him for five years, described her former lover as being “open” and “civilized”, in her interview with The Daily Mail.

"The fact that Saif was prepared to involve himself in a loving relationship with a Jew is a measure of how open and civilized he is. He judged people for what they are - not what people perceive them to be. Saif never made an issue of my religion, or the country I came from."

Weinerman also stated that she considered marriage with Saif Gaddafi, and added, "everything should be done" to save him from death.
