Gilad Shalit has been spotted at Maccabi Tel Aviv games, NBA All-Star game in Orlando, Florida and most recently on the set of Showtime’s “Homeland” which is being filmed in Israel, and now the former IDF solider will be making his way back to the States to provide coverage of the NBA Finals for Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronot.

Shalit has been hired by Israel’s leading newspaper as a sports columnist with his first assignment being the NBA Finals series between the Miami Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Shalit, the former IDF solider, was captured by Hamas on June 25, 2006 and held captive for 5 years before being released in an exchange for 1,000 Palestinian prisoners.

Game 1 of the NBA Finals was played last night with Oklahoma City Thunder winning 105-94. Game two will be played on Thursday at 9:00pm EST.
