Gabriel Giffords’ Assailant Improving, But Not Ready Yet
Jared Loughner Still “Unfit” to Stand Trial

Jared Loughner went on a shooting spree at a Giffords’ event in Tucson, Arizona just over a year ago, which resulted in Giffords being shot in the head, while six people lost their lives and 13 others were injured.
Despite an incredible ongoing recovery made by Giffords, she resigned from Congress last month.
The court-appointed psychologist who examined Loughner suggested that he be reexamined this summer, following the expiration of his original stay, on February 8th.
In his decision, U.S. District Judge Larry Burns stated, “Dr. Pietz does, however, believe that the defendant has made measurable progress toward competency and that his mental state will continue to improve."
