The extremely deadly Nepalese earthquake has left many children and adults traumatized by the chaotic natural disaster, and at least 7,300 dead.

Countries from around the world have come to the nation's aid, sending doctors and volunteers by the swarms, with several countries opening up field hospitals, including the State of Israel. In fact, according to a recent report, their aid team to Nepal is among the largest, despite the country's relatively small size.

And, as reported by The Jerusalem Post, in addition to the field hospital and many members of medical staff to assess and treat injured or wounded patients, Israel has also sent help by other means, seeking to heal and ease the traumatic environment by using medical clowns to provide happiness and peace to the victims.

Once again, Israel is leading the world in providing medical and therapeutic assistance to countries in need.

By playing and interacting with both children and adults, these Israeli medical clowns are actively making a positive difference in the lives of the affected. Similar to the movie, Patch Adams, starring Robin Williams, medical clowns are used to aid and assuage the anxieties of patients facing troubling circumstances.

Interestingly, Israel’s Hadassah hospital has its very own Medical Clown Project.

Moreover, as reported by Israel21c in 2011, Israel actually built the road upon which clown therapy was professionalized. In fact, a program called “Dream Doctors” helped organize the foundation of the University of Haifa’s Graduate School of Creative Art Therapies.

Just like Israel sent medical teams to Haiti in 2010 , and IsraAID was sent to Japan after the nuclear meltdown of Fukushima, Israel continues to be a global leader and light unto the world when it comes down to helping your fellow man.
