Life Expectancy On The Rise In Israel

Expectancy for both men and women is up compared to 2012

The life expectancy of Israels is going up, claims a report from Ynet News. According to numbers released from the Central Bureau of Statistics men, on average, live to 80.3 years while women average at 83.9. This is up roughly five months for men, and almost four for women, from the numbers they reported in 2012.

According to the report, men can also expect to enjoy the comforts of retirement for approximately 13 years while, on average, women can expect to spend 22 years living after retirement.

If you happen to live in the city of Ramat Gan, then you can sleep soundly knowing that your city has the longest life expectancy in Israel, closely followed by citizens of Rehovot and Rishon Lezion. If you’re living in Bat Yam, however, then you should consider moving as it had Israel’s lowest life expectancy, with their city’s average at 80.6 years.

Ynet reports that over the last 35 years the mortality rate of Israel has gone up by almost nine years. In the 1970’s they claim that only 33% of men and 43% of women were expected to reach 80 years old, whereas now it’s 59% of men and 72% of women who are expected to reach 80 years old.

Another incredible thing is that the age gap between men and women is one of the lowest in the world. The gap between men and women is only 3.3, while the average gap in OECD countries is 5.3, although Japan tops the list with the smallest gap in life expectancy.

Ynet also reports a positive relation between age expectancy and education. People with a higher level of education tend to have a longer life.
