Amidst constant negative attention regarding the Syria crisis and how it pertains to Israel, it's always nice to hear a bit of good news.
Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics released new data Monday which confirms that Israeli life expectancy has risen by over two years per person over the last decade, up to 83.6 years for women, and 79.9 years for men.
Despite what some would assume is the perpetual stress that comes along with living in a country constantly under verbal attack, the news is actually not surprising.
Over the past four decades, female life expectancy in Israel has risen by 8.9 years, while male life expectancy has risen by 8.7 years.
In 2011, Israel was ranked fourth for life expectancy (tied with Sweden) among those states that belong to the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development.
The data reports that over 28 percent of today's Israelis are under the age of 14; just last year, the median age for Israeli residents was 29.6 years, according to Haaretz.
