After Palestinian Man Kills Innocent Civilian, Turkish News Agency Tweets "Palestinian Man Shot Dead By Israeli Police"

We've warned you before; don't believe everything you read in the media.

Weeks ago, following an attack on a crowded Jerusalem light rail station, leaving a three-month-old baby and 22-year-old woman dead, the Associated Press ran this story: "Israeli Police Shoot Man in East Jerusalem."

As the AP is one of the most reputable news agencies in the world, several other publications picked up the story as well, publishing it with the same headline, until, amid a scour of outrage at the biased, misinformed headline, they finally changed it to “Car Slams Into East Jerusalem Train Station” and finally, to “Palestinian Kills Baby at Jerusalem Station.”

But this, as well all know, is too little too late. How many people read the story as it first was, rekindling the flames of anti-Semitic and anti-Zionist hatred that already exists within them?

For how many people did this headline justify their staunch anti-Israel views?

Sadly, this kind of bias exists in the media, particularly in the Middle East. But people, either unbeknownst to them, or simply misinformed and eat up everything they see, are fed this kind of bullshit every day.

Yesterday, after a similar tragic incident occurred where a Palestinian man rammed his car into a group of pedestrians, killing 38-year-old border police captain Jaddan Assad and injuring several others, the driver, Ibrahim al-Akari, stepped out of his car and began beating other pedestrians with a metal bar. Israeli police eventually caught up to him and, as he attempted to flee, shot and killed him.

Again, the riots and demonstrations amongst Palestinian territories ensued, because it's apparently wrong to apprehend a suspect who's just committed an act of terror. An online campaign promoting 'car intifada' and encouraging fellow Palestinians to use their cars as weapons against Israelis, has since been launched.

And how did news agencies in the Middle East relay the story?

A Turkish news agency, the English-language Anadolu Agency, tweeted to their swarms of followers, without mentioning any context, without mentioning that al-Akari ran his car into innocent civilians, "Palestinian Man Shot Dead by the Israeli Police."

The tweet was accompanied by photos of the terrorist.

Israeli foreign ministry officials promptly responded to the tweet, saying "This was an official tweet of the Turkish news agency, in which the despicable killer is portrayed as a victim of the Israeli police. The aim of the false tweet is to incite and fan the flames of hatred against Israel."

They also added that a "journalist which knowingly disseminates false information of this kind is a transgression of his position and is effectively supporting terror."

Anadolu responded to this outrage, claiming they provide "reliable news without bias."

Sure you do, Anadolu. Sure you do.
