Henry Winkler, best-known as Arthur Fonzarelli in the hit sitcom Happy Days, received a key to Winnipeg on Sunday. Mayor Sam Katz presented the honour and said Winkler was one of his role models growing up.

The mayor said during the ceremony, “Is there any young man who didn't go to bed saying a prayer, ‘Please let me wake up as The Fonz’? We love you Henry. We absolutely love you.”

The actor-turned-children’s book author was in town for the World of Wheels event. Winkler, who suffered from dyslexia as a child, has written a series of kids’ books about Hank Zipzer, The World's Greatest Underachiever. Though he is originally from New York, Katz said he wanted to honour Winkler’s contribution to causes such as cerebral palsy and literacy.

Winkler is the fourth celebrity to get a key to Winnipeg. He joins Milt Stegall, Sir Bob Geldof, and Jon Montgomery.
