The Los Angeles County coroner’s office found evidence that the late Corey Haim used at least one false prescription to purchase narcotics months before his death. According to CNN, the coroner’s office has subpoenaed medical records from 20 doctors in Haim’s death investigation.

Haim, who passed away on March 10, had a long history of drug abuse. However, autopsy results showed the ‘80s teen star died of an enlarged heart caused by pneumonia. According to California Attorney General Jerry Brown, records proved Haim had access to potentially dangerous drugs from different doctors in the past year.

Though the drugs were deemed legal, Brown told CNN that Haim’s behaviour had grounds for suspicion. He asked, “How many people go to 10 or 15 or 20 doctors and then run around to 10, 12 or more pharmacies to go fulfill them and sometimes two different doctors in the same day?”

The coroner’s office is still waiting for toxicology reports to confirm if drugs played a role in the actor’s death. According to pharmacy records, the most recent prescription was filled on March 5 for Vicdoin.
