The five culturally diverse member Jaffa Road band are all top-notch musicians with their own distinctive artistic voice, said Aaron.  “While the Hebrew language and culture is one of the main sources of inspiration, the music is an exciting mix of elements of music from many parts of the world.”

The band will be traveling to Newfoundland in April where the Juno’s take place.  “It’s amazing and exciting and validating that this music that’s sung in Hebrew by a Canadian group, is gaining this level of acceptance,” he said.

The Huppah Project has been nominated for World Music Group of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards that will take place in Ottawa in November.

You can see and hear Jaffa Road on Sunday, April 25, at Hugh’s Room on Dundas Street. They will be joined by Yair Dalal, one of the most prolific Israeli musicians shaping the international world music scene. He interweaves the traditions of his Iraqi roots with Jewish Arabic music and diverse influences ranging from the Balkans to India.

Co-produced by the Koffler Centre for the Arts, contact High’s Room 416-531-66041 for lunch reservations and/or tickets.
