Go word to word with some of Canada’s most eminent celebrities at the sixth annual Scrabble with the Stars.

Hosted by fashion/lifestyle reporter Jeanne Beker and actor Barry Flatman in aid of Performing Arts Lodges (PAL) Toronto, the event pits over forty celebrities with guests in Scrabble games with some dining and mingling thrown in as well.

Stars in attendance include Jayne Eastwood, Peter Kent, Gordon Pinsent, Colin Mochrie and “Sharon, Lois & Bram” (all of whom have participated since the event's inception), as well as Jaymz Bee, Mark Breslin, Dave Broadfoot, Dinah Christie, Arlene Duncan, C. David Johnson, Deb McGrath, Sheila McCarthy, Mickie Moore, Leah Pinsent, Shakura S’Aida, Avery Saltzman, Paul Soles, Amy Sky, Theresa Tova, Sarah Waxman, and more.

Besides Scrabble, the evening includes a cocktail reception where stars socialize with guests, a silent auction of art created by several celebrities and curated by comedienne/artist Jayne Eastwood, and a dinner buffet. The winners receive lavish prizes, which in the past have included a winery tour, a skippered sail around the Toronto Islands, overnight stays at deluxe hotels, and theatre tickets. Proceeds will help PAL Toronto aid ageing and ailing members of the performing arts professions.

Scrabble with the Stars takes place Mon. Apr. 12 at 6:30pm at The Suites at 1 King West. Tables can be reserved from $500, while single seats are $150 each. The cost includes dinner with complimentary wine, a game of Scrabble with a celebrity and a tax receipt. For further information, phone 416-777-9674 or visit
