Fenwick said that food at Pesach is an experience that cannot be duplicated. It is essential that everyone in Toronto’s Jewish community has the ability to have Passover foods for their seder.

“By running this drive it allows the community to take part in helping the community in a lot of ways,” Fenwick said, noting that unfortunately the food drive’s list has increased by 10 per cent this year because of the terrible recession.”

Besides donating money or food, people of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged give whatever time they have. Volunteers are still needed to help pack boxes or to deliver food on March 21.

“We’re educating the whole community about a real need, “ said Wasserman. “We’re trying to make a better Passover for people.”

“Pesach is one of the most celebrated holidays in the Jewish community,” added Fenwick. “It’s an important holiday to help people celebrate.”
