Rapper and newcomer Drake is up for four awards at the 2010 Juno Awards. Nominations were announced on March 3 and Drake ties Billy Talent in overall nods and comes second to Michael Bublé, who has a total of six.

Best I Ever Had is nominated for Single of the Year, competing against Rusted From the Rain (Billy Talent), Anybody Listening (Classified), Haven’t Met You Yet (Michael Bublé) and Love is a First (The Tragically Hip). Drake, who is yet to release a full album, is also vying for New Artist of the Year. His tracks Still Fly and So Far Gone from his debut EP are up for Rap Recording of the Year.

Howie Beck is also nominated. His album How to Fall Down in Public was selected for the Adult Alternative Album of the Year category. And Beck promises he will be representing well for his fellow Jews. He tells the Toronto Star, “I'll carry the torch of putting the 'Jew' in the Junos this year.”

This marks Beck’s first Juno nomination and he expressed his gratitude in a Toronto Star article. “I'm pretty surprised. I haven't been nominated for anything here before,” he said. “I tend to exist on the margins of the biz in Canada so it feels really good to be recognized for my work.” Beck’s album will be sizing up against Nineteen Seventy-Seven’s 1977, Joel Plaskett’s Three, Amy Milan’s Masters of the Burial and Cuff the Duke’s Way Down Here.

The 2010 Juno Awards will air live on April 8 on CTV. For more information, visit http://junoawards.ca/.
