Needless to say, it’s not easy making it in Hollywood – Emmanuelle Chriqui would know. She plays Sloan on the highly successful HBO TV series Entourage, which focuses on a young film star trying to maintain his own status in Los Angeles.

The Canadian actress of Moroccan Jewish descent was recently voted Top Woman of 2010 by AskMen.com, topping celebrities like Beyonce and Kate Beckinsale. However, it’s through her film, TV roles and a love for acting that Chriqui has proven she’s here to stay.

Her older brother, Serge Chriqui, a Toronto-based fine arts photographer (www.worldscapes.ca), says that his sister’s interest in acting sparked at a very young age. Unfortunately, their parents were unable to pay for her acting classes due to financial difficulties at the time. Serge stepped in to foot the bill.

“My sister always wanted to take acting classes…that was the first professional spark,” said Chriqui.

Older brothers can be extremely overprotective of siblings – especially over their little sisters. But Chriqui doesn’t mind all the attention his sister gets. “It brings her a lot of exposure, which is great,” he told Shalom Life. “She’s got a good head on her shoulders.”

Fans can catch Chriqui in Saint John of Las Vegas, currently in theatres.  She’ll be appearing in a few films which are slated to be released this year and in 2011. They include 13, co-starring Jason Statham and Mickey Rourke, and Elektra Luxx with Carla Gugino and Joseph-Gordon Levitt, who recently starred in 500 Days of Summer.
