Sophie Milman is ready for her return to Israel

Her bags are packed and Juno-award winning Jazz singer Sophie Milman is ready to make her first visit to her native Israel since 1992.

The Russian-born Milman, who moved to Haifa, Israel, with her parents at the age of six, decided to leave the heat of Israel for the cold of Toronto 12 years ago at the tender age of 16. Now, she’s returning to Israel thanks to an invitation extended to her by the Canadian Friends of Hebrew University to promote the Institute of Medical Research Israel-Canada (IMRIC).

The internationally renowned musician will perform at the annual Hebrew University Convocation during the Board of Governors meetings. She will also hold a special concert at the Zappa Club on June 18th in Hertzliya.

IMRIC conducts fundamental and applied research in biomedicine and researches the causes, treatment, and prevention of a number of diseases. It helps find answers to diseases that challenge medical science, such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases and infectious diseases.

“I’m very excited to be returning to Israel,” said Milman. The IMRIC is doing wonderful global research in medical disciplines all over the world and it really characterizes the wonderful relationship between Canada and Israel.”

The performance will be live streamed on June 19th at 10:30 am EST. To view the live stream, click here.
