Darren Aronofsky -- the director behind films like Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream and The Fountain -- wants to make Noah (an edgy take on the story of Noah’s Ark), according to Deadline New York. The Oscar-nominated director allegedly needs $130 million to make the movie, reports Deadline.

Aronofsky was supposed to direct the upcoming Wolverine film starring Hugh Jackman, but he’s no longer helming the flick. Black Swan, Arronofsky’s latest film, premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival. The movie was both a critical and box office success: it grossed approximately $320 million worldwide, which isn’t too shabby for a movie that was made on a modest $13 million budget.

The movie about a troubled ballerina (played by Natalie Portman) nabbed an impressive five Academy-Award nominations, and won Portman her first Oscar. Aronofsky earned an Academy-Award nomination under the Best Achievement in Directing category, but didn’t take home the Oscar.

On the other hand, Portman took home a number of awards for her role as Nina Sayers in Black Swan, including a BAFTA Award for Best Actress, a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Motion Picture Golden Globe.
