Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Barack Obama

Following the recent terrorist bombing in central Jerusalem, U.S. President Barack Obama has sent his condolences to Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, while and reaffirming his "unwavering" commitment to Israel's security.


According to a White House statement, "President Obama called Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu (on March 24) to convey his condolences over the terrorist attack in Jerusalem which killed one person and wounded many others, and to express his concern about the recent rocket and mortar attacks against Israel from Gaza.”


The statement said Netanyahu "appreciated" the call and that the leaders "agreed to remain in close touch on a range of regional security issues."


The statement also comes in the wake of Israel requesting American reassurances following the recent uprisings in the Arab world.
