Palin heading to Israel next week

In what appears to be a blatantly transparent attempt to bolster her oft-times tenuous grasp of foreign policy, Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin is scheduled to visit Israel next week. Palin is currently touring India, but will make a two-day stop in the Jewish state.

“I'm thankful to be able to travel to Israel on my way back to the U.S. As the world confronts sweeping changes and new realities, I look forward to meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu to discuss the key issues facing his country, our ally Israel," Palin wrote on her website.

In addition to having an audience with Netanyahu, Palin is set to visit the Western Wall and Nazareth, reported The Jerusalem Post.

During her comical 2008 vice-presidential candidacy, Palin made numerous widely publicized foreign-policy gaffes, notably confusing the two Koreas and musing that she could see Russia from her Alaskan home. The past aside, there is a good chance that Palin has her cross-hairs set on a 2012 White House bid, hence the tour of India and Israel.

In a recent ABC News/Washington Post poll, Palin’s favourability amongst Republican and Republican-leaning voters dropped to 58 percent. In 2008 her popularity peaked at 88 percent, when Palin took centre stage as John McCain’s running mate.
