The U.S Anti-Defamation League (ADL) holds no grudge against former Christian Dior fashion designer John Galliano after he owned up and apologized for anti-Semitic remarks he made in a Parisian cafe.

“We look forward to working with him to move forward in helping to repair the damage so that he can contribute once again toward the fight against prejudice, intolerance and discrimination,” Abraham H. Foxman, ADL’s national director is quoted as saying by European Jewish Press.

Galliano apologized earlier this week in a statement that said “I know that I must face up to my own failures” and that “anti-Semitism and racism have no part in our society. I unreservedly apologize for my behavior in causing any offence, ” reports European Jewish Press.

ADL “is ready to work with Mr. Galliano to help him understand the consequences of his actions,” Foxman is quoted as saying by the European Jewish Press. It is unclear what sort of work they will be undertaking with Galliano.

Galliano was strongly reprimanded by Dior. He was suspended immediately and later fired after proof emerged with a video aired by The Sun earlier this week in which he was shown yelling at non-Jewish Italian woman obscenities such as “people like you would be dead,” and “ ‘your mothers, your forefathers’ would all be ‘gassed’ ” , at which point he was fired- a move ADL applauded.

He was accused of going on a similar anti-Semitic and racist drunken tirade last Thursday in the same cafe, but French police have so far found no witnesses.
