Freshly minted Academy Award winner Natalie Portman said she finds John Galliano’s anti-Semitic remarks captured on amateur video revolting.

“I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today. In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way. I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful,” said the actress in a statement issued to The New York Times late Monday evening.

Portman has an endorsement campaign with Dior for Miss Dior Cherie perfume that was recently released, but Galliano had no affiliation with Dior’s perfume lines. He was sacked Tuesday, in light of the video that surfaced wherein he makes an anti-Semitic rant and declares, “I love Hitler”.

Fashion insiders anticipated that Portman would be clad in a Galliano frock for the Academy Awards on Sunday, but donned a Rodarte creation instead. She was awarded the Best Actress Oscar for her role in Black Swan.

It is unknown how Portman’s contract with Dior will be affected, if at all.
