Glee star Lea Michele is lobbying hard for the lead role in the upcoming Broadway remake of Funny Girl. Apparently, the star has her heart set on playing “Fanny Brice”, the role made famous by Barbra Streisand, tenaciously petitioning casting directors involved in the project.

"She's pushing them hard. She’s telling anyone who will listen how badly she wants the role of Fanny Brice,” an insider close to the project disclosed.

Michele preformed at the Musicares tribute to Barbra Streisand on February 11th, pressing to be introduced to the legend. Last Sunday at the Grammy Awards, Streisand apparently approached Michele with pleasantries. The 24 year-old tweeted shortly thereafter, “"As if this night at the Grammys wasn't amazing enough . . . at the valet . . . Barbra Streisand came up to me. I can barely breathe."

Michele and her 12 cast mates will hit the road on the Glee tour this summer, with a scheduled stop in Toronto. Playing at the Air Canada Centre on June 11th, this will be the first time the tour visits our fair land to the North.

The Glee tour commences in Las Vegas on May 21st , and includes 15 U.S cities.
