Canadian rapper Drake is in talks to join the cast of Arbitrage, a financial thriller directed by Nicholas Jarecki (screenwriters of The Informers), according to Collider.com. The cast of the film already includes Al Pacino, Eva Green (Casino Royale, The Golden Compass) and Academy-Award winner Susan Sarandon.

While the Jewish rapper is known world-wide for his music, he actually started out as an actor. Drake starred as Jimmy Brooks in the hit Canadian TV show Degrassi: The Next Generation. He’s also made appearances in a number of other Canadian TV shows and the movie Charlie Bartlett (which also featured his Degrassi co-star Lauren Collins).

It’s safe to say that Drake had a great year. In 2010, the 24-year-old artist shot to No. 1 on the Billboard albums chart with his debut, full-length album Thank Me Later. He performed sold-out shows across North America (including in his native Toronto) and won two Juno Awards, including Rap Recording of the Year and New Artist of the Year.

He’s already started working on a follow up album with the likes of the Neptunes and Justin Timberlake, according to MTV News. Drake is up for four Grammy Awards: Best New Artist, Best Rap Solo Performance for his song “Over,” Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group and Best Rap Album. You’ll have to wait until Feb. 13 to find out if he wins any Grammy awards.
