Chutzpah!, a multi-disciplinary performing arts festival that celebrates Jewish artistry will be returning on Feb. 10. The event honours the memory of dance and arts lover Lisa Nemetz. The Vancouver-based festival has been showcasing talented singers, musicians, dancers and actors for more than 10 years.

This year’s festival will feature talent from around the world. Some of the music acts include Balkan Beatbox (who performed in Toronto at the Ashkenaz Festival), Ravid Kahalani (a singer known for his collaborations with Idan Raichel), the Juno-award-nominated group Jaffa Road and Poland’s Klezmafour.

Dance lovers will have plenty of shows to see at the festival. Aside from the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, one of Israel’s most celebrated companies, a number of dancers and choreographers (including Kevin O’Day, Luches Huddleston Jr. and Robert Glumbek) will be performing at the festival. Yossi Berg and Oded Graf -- recipients of Israel’s Ministry of Culture Awards for Outstanding Choreographers -- will also be performing at this year’s event.

Finally, theatre goers will have three shows to check out: Visiting Mr. Green tells the story of an 86-year-old widower who’s almost hit by a car that’s driven by a much younger executive. The play has already been translated in more than 20 languages. The Tony-award-winning play Falsettos will also be staged at the festival. Chutzpah! will be presenting the world premiere of the play How to Disappear Completely, by Vancouver lighting designer Itai Erdal.
