Toronto celebrates 40th Anniversary of Juno Awards

A number of events celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Juno Awards will take place in Toronto. 


Juno Week will be held from March 21 through March 27. The week will include events from different art forms, planned by CARAS and the 2011 Toronto Advisory Committe, including music, fashion and literature-related events. Signature Juno events such as Juno Cup, JunoFest and Juno Fan Fare are also set to take place during the week-long celebration.


"The Juno Awards are a constantly evolving celebration. This year we're enhancing the entertainment experience by offering all-new engaging events celebrating Canadian music 365 days of the year," said Melanie Berry, President and CEO of CARAS, in a statement. 


The 40th anniversary celebrations of the music awards includes:


JUNO Sole: Celebrating 40 Years of the JUNO Awards  (The Bata Shoe Museum)


Nov. 10, 2010 – Nov. 30, 2011


One of the museum’s galleries will turn into a space that celebrates Canadian music through fashion.


JUNO Decades: A 40th Anniversary Concert Series (The Horseshoe Tavern)


Dec. 4, 2010, Jan. 8, 2011, Feb. 5, 2011, and March 5, 2011


The Horseshoe Tavern will host a concert series in celebration of four decades of Canadian music.


The JUNO Tour of Canadian Art (the AGO)


Feb. 16 through Aug. 31, 2011


Eight Juno Award winners will pick works that have personally and/ or artistically inspired them.




Canadian music fans unable to attend the events can celebrate the anniversary by reading. Starting in November, the book Music from Far and Wide: Celebrating 40 Years of the JUNO Awards will be available nationwide.
