Ozzy Osbourne

Metal legend Ozzy Osbourne is set to play a show in Israel on Tuesday night for the first time ever.

The singer is taking his Ozzfest festival on the road and after shows in the UK, Scandinavia and mainland Europe, the singer and his metal allies will be playing Israel tonight, Billboard.com reported.

The lack of Ozzy in Israel can be chalked up to alcohol, he says - not the region's intense political situation.

Speaking at a press conference for the show about why he's never played in the country, he said, "I guess I was drunk for so many years."

"I try to stay away from politics," he continued. "They don't understand me and I don't understand them."

A host of acts recently have bowed to pressure and declined to play in Israel, whilst some have resisted calls to cancel and continued with their plains to perform in the country. John Lydon's Public Image Ltd controversially remained unwavering in their desire to play in Israel, as previously reported by Spinner, differing from the likes of Elvis Costello, the Pixies and Gil Scott-Heron who all boycotted playing in the country.
