Toronto-raised Jewish rapper Drake won two honours at the 2010 MuchMusic Video Awards. The rapper was awarded for his single "Successful" (MuchVIBE Hip-hop Video of the Year and Cinematography of the Year). Drake was nominated for seven categories, but the night belonged to an artist who refers to Drake as his "big brother."


Justin Bieber tied Hedley for the most MMVA awards with three wins with his hit "Baby." Bieber, who made a cameo during Miley Cyrus' opening performance, told audiences, "It's my first award and to have it in Canada is amazing." He scored top awards such UR FAVE Video, UR FAVE New Artist and International Video of the Year by a Canadian.


"Bieber Fever" was certainly in effect as the fan-driven UR FAVE category drew in 513,000 votes, compared to about 470,000 last year. The other artist who also nabbed a UR FAVE award was Adam Lambert for "Whattya Want From Me" (UR FAVE International Video). 


Much MTV Group and CTV Inc. senior vice-president and general manager Brad Schwartz said this year's event was a success on local and international levels. "It’s was an amazing night, with the return of homegrown stars and the biggest names in music rocking out for MuchMusic fans," he said in a press release. "From Miley to Lambert, Bieber to Katy, the MMVAs put our fans right in the centre of the action, taking them behind the scenes on, and getting them closer to their favourite stars than ever before.”
