Last Saturday a protest took place outside the Israeli Embassy in London. Several thousand protesters marched from Downing Street to the Israeli Embassy where they waved signs and flags. The protesters demanded that the British government increase pressure on Israel.

During the protest, which was covered by Iran’s Press TV, former British MP George Galloway addressed the crowd, with Turkish, Palestinian and Hezbollah flags flying behind him. A report published by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) brings the full transcript of his speech.

In his speech, Galloway compared the events of the Gaza aid flotilla to the Soweto which “began the countdown to the end of racist, apartheid state of South Africa” and assured the crowd that similar to the Soweto, “the killings of our martyrs on Monday begin the numbering of the days of the Zionist apartheid state of Israel. Be sure, be sure about that.”

Galloway also announced that two convoys, one by land and one by sea, will leave London the day after Ramadan and will travel through Europe, Turkey, Syria, and Jordan. Afterwards the convoys plan to enter the Gaza Strip through Rafah. Galloway called on the Egyptian government “in the names of millions of people” to open the gates to Gaza.

He added that the siege on Gaza would not end through resolutions at the UN Security Council or by ruminations in the Arab League, and said that “We have to break it down ourselves and we will do so.”

Galloway concluded his speech with the words: “As-Salam Alaykum. Viva Viva Palestina, viva viva Palestina, viva viva Palestina. Thank you.”
