Bubbies and zaidies, moms and dads, and toddlers and teens unite at the What A Bagel eatery. The place to be for brunch in Thornhill, this restaurant is filled with families and friends enjoying good food and company.

Unlike other What A Bagels, this location at 8010 Bathurst Street has a sit-down menu and seating area. They’ve transitioned from take-out to dine-in in all the right ways. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is bright and welcoming. The food is a step up from their original menu. They’ve taken classic What A Bagel favourites and added a modern Israeli flair.

The menu consists of breakfast and lunch options such as eggs, omelets, salads, tuna, cream cheese and lox sandwiches, and Israeli dishes. Try their shakshuka (eggs cooked in tomato paste and vegetables) or their Israeli Toast, sprinkled with the exotic spice za’atar. You can also create your own salad with similar options to the original What A Bagel salad bar found in other locations.

They offer sweet potato fries with most of their dishes as an alternative to traditional home fries. Not only do they taste great, but sweet potatoes are lower in carbohydrates than other potatoes.

For an extra $1.99 you can substitute fries for a salad. The most popular is the Shoom Shoom salad made of spring greens, roasted red pepper, pine nuts, cherry tomatoes and creamy goat cheese in basil balsamic vinaigrette. This is not your average side salad – it may be healthier than sweet potato fries but it is just as tasty. In addition, most meals come with a fresh bagel of your choice.

The What A Bagel eatery hasn’t forgotten their foundation of success. You can still purchase fresh bagels, pastries and sandwiches to take home and enjoy.
