Elvis Costello

Several days after Elvis Costello announced the cancellation of his two concerts in Israel, education group StandWithUs proposed a free five-star tour to the singer. Costello was scheduled to perform on June 30 and July 1, but called off the appearances for political reasons.

StandWithUs is inviting the British artist to tour Israel in August, around the same time his wife, jazz singer Diana Krall, performs in Tel Aviv. Roz Rothstein, CEO and co-founder of StandWithUs, said the group aims to educate others, including Costello, on misinformation about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Rothstein told Ynetnews, “We would like to do this for Costello, whose decision undermines peaceful coexistence instead of promoting it. As a celebrity, he has a special responsibility to make sure his public positions are based on accurate information and are fair.”

No word yet whether Costello took on the offer.
