Comedy Central Reaches Agreement with Jon Stewart

Comedy Central has extended Jon Stewart’s contract through June 2013. Stewart is the host, executive producer and writer of The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.

 

The hour-long news parody program started in 1996, but it wasn’t until 1999 that Stewart took the helm. Since his takeover, the show has received 32 Emmy nominations, including seven consecutives nods for the Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series category. Stewart has also been nominated five times for the Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program award.

 

Comedy Central president Michele Ganeless also announced that it has reached an agreement with Stephen Colbert. Host, executive producer and writer of The Colbert Report, Colbert’s contract has been extended until the end of 2012.
