Romeo and Juliet

It’s hard to find someone who hasn’t read or at least heard of Shakespeare’s story of forbidden love in Romeo and Juliet. Missouri's New Jewish Theatre is hoping to add a new twist to Shakespeare’s classic.

The tale of star-crossed lovers gets a new tone with New Jewish Theatre’s adaptation by Robin Weatherall. Rival families in Verona are replaced by Jews and Arabs living in Jerusalem.

However, the love component remains, this time with two young lovers who try to cross the political divide.

Romeo and Juliet is part of the Missouri History Museum's Performing Arts Series. Most of the performances will feature talk backs after the show. The play runs from April 14 to May 2.
