World War II has always played an important part in Zack Bernbaum's life. The Ryerson University grad has grandparents who survived the Holocaust and other family members who were killed in concentration camps.

Two years ago, Bernbaum stumbled across an article about Otto Teibeth while researching stories of SS officers. Teibeth was a Jewish-Polish man who posed as a Nazi in order to save Jews being deported to Auschwitz.

The then-Ryerson student was so moved by Teibeth’s story, he decided to create a 15 minute short film loosely based on the article.

So Soon Forgotten was shot during 2008 in Toronto. It made the film festival circuit in 2009. The film will be showcased at the Al Green Theatre (750 Spadina Ave.) during the Toronto Jewish Film Festival on April 22.
