Larry Thomas, most famous for his role as the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld, has been singing the praises of Israeli street food. In a new ad released by Pepsi Max in promotion of their Top Street Food project, Thomas can be seen reprising his legendary role while sampling local Israeli fare.

The ad begins with two clearly petrified food vendors offering Thomas some steak with pita and tahini. The two serve Thomas with the utmost care and caution, so as not to provoke him, and patiently await his approval.

“This is yummy!” Thomas, dressed as the Soup Nazi, declares, to the relief of those around him.

The notorious soup enthusiast can then be found sampling many different styles of Israeli street food, all the while enjoying every one. At one point Thomas even states, “This falafel is making me thirsty!” – a throwback to another famous Seinfeld joke.

The panicky vendor then proceeds to give Thomas a bottle of Pepsi Max, who despite his trademarked prickly exterior is visibly pleased with the product.

After some time Thomas finally arrives at neima’s soup stand, where he orders “one hilbeh soup, plenty of s’hug,” a spicy Yemenite condiment. At this point the tables are turned, with the equally infamous Neima yelling out, “No s’hug for you!.”

A reference, of course, to Thomas’ own famous line from Seinfeld.

After a battle of nasty glares, Thomas finally concedes defeat, yelling out “Neima!!” and gesturing with his hand.

Thomas is currently in Israel for the first time, sampling Israeli street food as part of an Israeli Food Festival hosted by Pepsi Max. In other news, he also recently revealed that he had hoped to make a guest appearance on Curb Your Enthusiasm. Curb is produced by comedian and executive producer of Seinfeld Larry David, who recently wrote and starred in his own Broadway play, Fish in the Dark.
