Last weekend, comedic actor, Seth Rogen, created an online stir when he made a comment about Academy-Award nominated film ‘American Sniper’.

The aforementioned film, starring Bradley Cooper, tells the true story of late Navy SEAL, Chris Kyle, who served four tours of duty in Iraq and has the most confirmed kills in history.

Rogen’s tweet compared the film to Nazi propaganda.

“American Sniper kind of reminds me of the movie that’s showing in the third act of Inglorious Basterds,’ Rogen wrote, referencing a Nazi propaganda film about a young German sniper who killed hundreds of Allied soldiers.

Fellow Hollywood stars were divided by Rogen’s sentiment, with ‘Lois & Clark’s’ Dean Cain threatening to beat him up and Alec Baldwin coming to his defense.

“Seth… I like your films, but right now I wanna kick your ass. Chris is an American Hero. Period. Go to war. Then we’ll talk,” Cain wrote about Chris Kyle.

Baldwin immediately went on the attack against Cain, tweeting, “Did @RealDeanCain threaten Seth Rogen? And isn’t that the same kind of troubled thinking that got Chris Kyle killed?”

“Help me out here @RealDeanCain. What branch of the service were you in? And where did you serve?,” Baldwin continued before adding, “I’m for freedom of speech. Having said that, American Sniper is a better movie than The Interview.”

Rogen remained silent throughout the online debate, but issued a statement to the Associated Press on Thursday, explaining the intent of his initial comment. He stated that he only compared the two movies “because they both involved plots about the most lethal of snipers,” adding “My grandfather was a veteran. My comment about the movie was not meant to have any political implications.”
