President Obama caused a minor stir on the internet last week when he accidentally referred to James Franco as James Flacco during a press conference about the Sony hacker leak.
Now it appears that Franco is running with the joke. It was announced yesterday that The Interview, the movie that is said to have caused all of this by depicting a fictional plot to assassinate Kim Jong Un, would be shown in select theatres. Franco celebrated this fact by tweeting a picture of himself kissing co-star Seth Rogen, along with the following words, “CELEBRATING!!!!! "The Interview" starring Seth Rogen and James Flacco saved by President Obacco! I MEAN PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!!! Sorry!!!"
Seth Rogen also appeared excited and tweeted, “The people have spoken! Freedom has prevailed! Sony didn't give up! The Interview will be shown at theaters willing to play it on Xmas day!”
Sony is also said to be considering YouTube as a possible way to distribute the film. In an interview with CNN, Michael Lynton, Sony Pictures' chief executive said, “We would still like the public to see this movie, absolutely. There are a number of options open to us. And we have considered those, and are considering them. We have always had every desire to have the American public see this movie."
